I don’t know what it is about the holidays, but they really bring out my inner stained-glass lover all over again. I think since they make really fun and unique gifts, I’m all for it. This time of year is already crazy enough, so why not try taking on an entirely new hobby right now? I mean, ’tis the season anyway! I just shared these trees, so here are some throwbacks. If not, you can at least store this away for the winter months: 5 stained glass ornaments to try now {with free patterns!}

These are different levels, from beginner to intermediate, and a little something in between. And if you’re not ready to take on something like this just yet, check out the project at the bottom if you’re in the mood for something different without diving all the way in. I have something for you, too! All of these come with complete instructions and free patterns… so let’s dive in, shall we?

1. 5 Stained Glass Ornaments to Try Now: Stained Glass Suncatchers + Gift Toppers
We love this idea for all things simple. If you’re looking for an easy way to add something fun to your home that isn’t too time-consuming. These were so easy to make, they’re a great place to start. What I love the most about this little design is that it can be one piece, if you want, and have such a diverse application. From gift toppers to table top ornaments, and even sun catchers in the window {as shown above} the possibilities are endless. Get the full instructions + free pattern here!

2. 5 Stained Glass Ornaments to Try Now: Stained Glass Star Ornaments
These are a little bit of a level up in the stained-glass game, but super satisfying to put together. We had a blast pulling all these together for gift giving one year. They’re perfect for using up those smaller pieces, too. Check out the full how-to and free pattern here.

3. 5 Stained Glass Ornaments to Try Now: Stained Glass Monograms
Step right up, folks. We have the entire alphabet. I actually love the diversity and personalization between each one… and they definitely work year-round as sun catchers! See the full instructions + select your own free pattern here!

4. 5 Stained Glass Ornaments to Try Now: Sparkling Angels
I just shared these for the first time a few weeks ago, but I couldn’t leave them out! These are such fun holiday gift ideas. Or even in the snowy cold months ahead! Check it all out here.

5. 5 Stained Glass Ornaments to Try Now: Stained Glass Snowflake Ornaments
These are a modern take on stained glass, without the stained glass side effects! I dabbled in these circa 2020, before I took on the actual craft, and though I hate I didn’t dive in sooner, I loved putting these together for a simple, colorful + modern look. Get the full how-to here + have a fun afternoon putting them together, with just a few simple supplies!

So do you think you’ll take on any ornaments this winter? We’d love to hear—no reason to only reserve these for Christmas, because they really work year-round. Be sure to check out all our stained glass projects here, and consider taking on something fun this winter during the slower months. This is your sign to try! Have an inspired day!
