The kitchen is where so many of our daily rhythms happen, so it always seems to need a lot of TLC! But I love to use a new season as an opportunity for a little reset, and the kitchen is one of my favorite rooms to refresh.
Now that spring is sooo close (and the sun came out for a little extra inspiration!) I thought I’d share a few things we’ve done lately.

A few recent kitchen resets in our kitchen for spring
We have a few things we do almost every season, but here are five spring kitchen resets we’ve done over the past couple of weeks:
- clearing the counters to give to all surfaces a good cleaning
- rearranging or swapping decor so it feels fresh
- bringing in fresh plants for the season and saying goodbye to any we killed 🙂
- changing our cafe curtains (love a simple seasonal reset with what we have…mine are these, also available here and my cafe curtain hardware details are here)
- touching up paint (right now we’re giving our dining table a fresh coat of paint, and often we’ll do touch ups on woodwork, too.)

Little seasonal updates like these and my daily routines are part of what I call home rhythms — simple repeatable practices that help a home feel fresh and welcoming again.
I’ve found that finding a sustainable and enjoyable rhythm for each season at home is the secret to keeping up with so much of what needs to be done around the house, and in life, too.
The first two home routines I ever learned were making our bed and doing our dishes every night! So simple but impactful.

It took me about 10 years of struggling with our home — always feeling overwhelmed, before I discovered how much easier everyday could be with a simple sustainable rhythm!
I’ll never forget how it felt. Life-changing, actually.
I’m still amazed how rhythms help not only for productivity and getting things done, but for our well-being, too.
Turns out they help with more than just messes around the house, they help you create beauty in every season. They reduce stress and anxiety — making you feel less frantic and more in control. And it’s reassuring to know that even if you get off track, you have a trusted rhythm to return to.

It’s taken me years to hone in on the most efficient and sustainable ways to care for and decorate a home — and to know how to help others, so I’m thrilled to share what I’ve learned with fellow HomeBodies.
We just completely refreshed and reorganized our home rhythm and decorating systems in The HomeBody House (our home away from home) and our website, too (go see!) — so we’re all ready for a new season of HomeBodies.
The HomeBody House is a lovely place to retreat to, where you can go to escape the noise and find the most peaceful path and pace to create a sanctuary for the season you’re in.
You can start your journey to a sanctuary right now, today in fact!
I just added a brand new video to The HomeBody House to personally welcome you in, and to offer you three simple steps to get started.

Speaking of seasonal resets and creating a home you love, I don’t think I’ve showed you my new kitchen runner! I love this one.
One thing I like about runners is that they are small enough to store even in a smaller home, so you can have a couple of them that you change for the season.
Have you heard of Ruggable? They are perfect for a kitchen (washable!) We got this Ruggable rug and I love it. It comes in other colors too, I had a hard time choosing which one, but I thought this would be perfect for our home this spring. A nice mix of coziness and florals!
We keep a runner in the kitchen here a lot of the year for a couple of reasons. One is it keeps Finnegan from sliding all over the place when he has his puppy crazies. Another is it catches some of the drips from doing dishes and cooking, so it protects the floor!
I rounded up more Ruggable rugs I love here in this folder.
