I’ll keep it short and sweet today as we all start to get back into the swing of things, and a fresh start! With the arrival of the new year, we thought it was worth mentioning a few design trends we’re seeing because it’s always fun to see what’s coming. Clearly we always believe in doing what makes you happy. But would I even be doing my job as a designer if I didn’t point out some of the faves that I love? Here are a few of our faves: The Best Design Trends of 2025!

1. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Personalized Spaces.
We’re seeing a huge change among those who really want to express their own tastes in their interiors, and we’re one hundred percent here for it. Perhaps a shift from the beige trend with more personality. Which brings us to…

2. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Color.
Periodt. As the kids are saying these days. And yes, I am old. But we’re breaking away from those neutral palettes this year, and we’re thrilled. Sigma.

3. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Mix of Vintage and New.
The mix of modern with vintage and that collected vibe never goes out of style. We’re happy to mix and match, source and curate. It’s our favorite part about finding all those amazing accents that make a house a home.

4. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Multifunctional Spaces
2020 saw an increase in the smart use of spaces, and they’re still going strong. Multifunctional spaces are not so much a trend as a necessity in our world, but we’re seeing more requests these days. Basically, this isn’t your grandma’s fancy living room, and we’re here to use all the valuable space, as needed.

6. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Statement Lighting.
The right lighting is like jewelry in a space. We continue to see a trend toward these fabulous lights.

7. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Biophilic Design.
We’ve seen it in the last few years, but it’s still going strong. A trend towards natural elements in environments for that cozy feel are always a good call. Especially to get us all through the winter.

8. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Ceilings
It’s a great moment to pay attention to all those details with the fifth wall! From wallpaper to accent colors, textures, and more, we’re paying attention to ceilings, and they don’t have to be that forgotten element.

9. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Maximalism.
An offshoot of people doing and displaying and embracing more of what they love. We’re here for the cozy, expressive, and colorful.

10. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Durable Materials + Natural Elements
The brick contrast with wood in this kitchen is a great example of showcasing more of that in the home.

11. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Curves in Furniture
This has been in for a while, so it’s fun to see more!

12. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Mixed Metals
A client recently asked me if mixing metals in their home was okay. I said absolutely. There’s something more relaxed and timeless about mixing it throughout the home, and it’s nice to see that everywhere.

13. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Bold, Abstract Art
At Chicago’s Design Mart, we saw bold art everywhere. It’s a great, easy way to add color to your home. While I’m at it, check out our art here.

14. The Best Design Trends of 2025:Color + Wood Tones in the Kitchen
White kitchens will always be classic, but we’re also seeing a trend toward bolder tile choices and kitchen cabinet colors.

15. The Best Design Trends of 2025: Handmade Elements
There’s a major appreciation for all things artisan craftsmanship, and we couldn’t love that more. It was on the upswing last year, and we’re seeing even more now. A general appreciation for handmade elements is one of the best pieces you can possibly add to your spaces and homes.
