Pretty Kitchen Organization with Rattan Lidded Baskets

This year I’m continuing my mission to find a place for everything and put everything in its place. Last week I added a few new baskets which I’m excited about, so I thought I would share them!

The intent with these new baskets is to make the shelves (and the counter) pretty with cozy texture and to solve an organization problem that will be easy enough to take care with a basket.

But I’m not trying to find spaces to hide stuff we don’t even need, nope!

Although I will say there are times when a basket is perfect for hiding things you use, but that keep getting left out.

One of our baskets is for that very purpose. This small oval one holds our dog Lily’s supplements she takes, so no more pile up on the counter!

I also got three new round lidded baskets for our island shelves, too. I absolutely LOVE them!

Most of my other baskets are rectangular so having these other shapes really makes them feel special and adds variety.

The round baskets are all stackable. I got two in a smaller size for one shelf and then one larger one.

The larger one fits dinner plates, so I can stash ones we use only occasionally in there. I love the double duty of function and pretty!

The smaller ones will each have a dedicated purpose (so they are useful and so I don’t end up forgetting what is in them) I can always change my mind as to what I’ll use them for later, but I’m liking what I have in them so far:

I am using one round basket as a picture hanging basket! I love to be efficient with small frequent tasks so this is where I’m keeping all the little supplies I need to hang a plate or frame: it’ll hold things like sticky tack, measuring tape, hooks and nails, and soon I’ll add a new stack of the plate hangers i love and a small leveler and a new small hammer to replace ones I lost :).

The other one is a small tools basket. I’ve wanted to create an “extra-junk-drawer” spot for awhile now, so I think a basket is going to do the trick! Similar to the picture hanging basket, I like to keep a few handy tools that we use here in the kitchen so it’s easy to get to them. We also use extension cords when we have family here so we can plug in various small appliances like mixers and crock pots wherever it’s convenient for them to be so I’ll add a few more of those to this basket, too.

I really dislike running the garage to dig around find stuff, so having organization systems right where we use things makes me happy 🙂

Our one slim junk drawer is the island just gets too much in it, so moving some of these necessities out means we can free up more room in the actual “junk” drawer, too–mostly for paper and pens.

By the way, if you haven’t yet hopped into my Room Recipe Workshop, the next few weeks we’ll be talking about styling and organizing with less visual clutter. It’s not too late to join us and to get in on all of our workshops this year. Learn more here.
