This one’s a bit of a throwback, but it felt appropriate to share it this week! Here we are… ghost dogs!

If you’ve been around for a while, then you know that our dogs are pretty chill and really great at posing for photographs. We love them so. People often ask us how we get them to look at the camera or stay still for long periods of time, and we think it’s a combo of things. We trained them since they were puppies, and they love a good reward. {See: tweats!} They’re also farm dogs {they’re our rescue pyre heelers – red heeler + white pyrenees} so we think they enjoy working. They have a lot of energy. Otherwise, they get bored and then they eat things. So when we saw the ‘ghost dog trend’ keep popping up, we figured it would be a breeze. They could ace this one. Easily. The bestest ghost dogs in the history of ever.

They’re used to donning costumes and striking a pose. Easy. Peasy.

But when we broke out the sheets, I quickly realized how wrong I was. The outcome? In short, I can’t breathe.

They were really good sports. But in retrospect, I blame the costume maker {me}. I’m just glad I have the photos to stand testament to how wrong it all went. 

Apparently Rigby preferred no face on hers, because she busted right through. Eye holes are for plebeians. We’ll hold on to this one for Christmas because she looks more like a wiseman now. 

And We couldn’t get Fitz’s eyes to stay aligned no matter how hard we tried. 

I corralled the kids to help me, and we couldn’t quit laughing long enough to take this seriously. Rigby totally gave up. 

At least we have the memories. 

We removed the sheet to give them a break, and Fitz’s ear actually stayed twisted back like that. I have no idea what happened. 

She’s fine. Everything’s fine.

No doggie feelings were hurt in the filming of said haunting. They were compensated nicely, per their contracts. 

Rigby is a vibe. She did not understand the assignment. This is pretty much how my entire year went. She is me. I am her.
