We don’t really travel far from home much these days, but we love taking little staycation day trips.
With how fast we know summer will fly by, my husband and I already started our weekly summer tradition of a quick, often impromptu, visit to local spots we love.
Most of our day trips aren’t planned out in advance like a true vacation would be, which is actually why I like to do summer this way. Traveling and all the planning involved can be stressful and expensive, but an any day adventure can happen on a whim.

Anytime a whim strikes, or we have a window of opportunity or even some errands to run where we go off island, we have nearby destinations that we like to stop in to enjoy. They feel like a little escape, a moment to just be present in summer, rather than turning into an event to coordinate and plan.
I used to share our Out to See posts here on the blog (a fun twist on my childhood adventures where I would often go “out to sea” at my grandparents in a little row boat on a tiny lagoon).

So in honor of old school blogging and my 19th blogging anniversary (!) I thought I would take you along on a few of little local adventures this summer, whether they are more full day trips or a quick escape in an ordinary day like what I’ll share here!
Today’s adventure was to a little coastal town here called La Conner.
My favorite shop here is called Restless and Refurbished. They have a mix of old and new but they import European antiques which I love looking at.

If my house was bigger I would be coming here to buy furniture like this all the time! 🙂

One of the things I love about living here in the NW by the sea is how slow paced and relaxed everything is. You can go to a beach here or a few shops in a cute little town mid week and sometimes you will feel like you’re practically the only ones there! The summers are the peak tourist time but weekday adventures still feel fairly quiet most days.

Do you have a favorite summer day trip destination you enjoy visiting? I’d love to hear about it!
